A great press release is not an advert — it is a story a journalist can use. After distributing thousands of releases at Presslix, we have learned what separates the ones that get picked up from the ones that get deleted.
Start with the headline: keep it under 15 words and put the news first. Your opening paragraph should answer who, what, when, where and why in two sentences. Journalists decide in seconds whether to keep reading.
“If a busy news editor cannot grasp your story from the headline and first paragraph alone, it will not get covered — no matter how good the news is.”

Always include a genuine quote that adds opinion or context, never one that just repeats the facts. End with a short boilerplate about your company and a named contact with a phone number. Keep the whole release under 400 words.
