Lucrezia Millarini: ITV News Presenter, Career, TV Shows and Charity Work

Lucrezia Millarini is an English news journalist employed by ITN who presents ITV News, including ITV News London’s flagship programme and national bulletins. Her career can be followed across almost every ITV News slot — from London’s 6pm programme to the Lunchtime News, Evening News, Weekend News and News at Ten — and she has also built a second public profile in entertainment television and charity work.
Her route into journalism explains her on-air style. She did not start in a newsroom. She studied law, trained as a barrister, and then, after a serious accident on holiday, changed direction entirely.

Early life and education in London
Millarini was born in London in February 1976 and grew up in the city, with a father of Italian descent and an English mother. Her schooling took her across north London: Dallington School in Clerkenwell for nursery, St John the Evangelist Catholic Primary School in Islington, La Sainte Union Catholic School, an all-girls’ convent secondary in Highgate, and A-levels at Woodhouse College in North Finchley.
She then studied law at Bristol University and trained as a barrister. That training still shows in her presenting: she tests an argument and follows evidence step by step, a useful background for breaking news, where the first version of a story is rarely complete.
The accident that changed her career
While training to become a barrister, Millarini was on holiday in Zante when she fell from a first-floor balcony, came terrifyingly close to breaking her back, and was airlifted to mainland Greece and sedated. She was about 22 and was left with a damaged coccyx. In interviews she has called the accident an epiphany: recovering in hospital, she decided law was not her calling and returned to university to study broadcast journalism. She completed a postgraduate diploma in Broadcast Journalism from City University, started at a local radio station in Oxford, and then joined ITN’s digital operation in London.
ITV News London and the national bulletins
Millarini joined ITV News London as Entertainment Correspondent in December 2010, and also presented FYI Daily on ITV2. In January 2013 she moved to newsreading, fronting the short opts that aired as part of Daybreak, now Good Morning Britain, for ITV London. For a time in 2014 she also presented bulletins for 5 News on Channel 5.
Her national bulletin record is:
- ITV Weekend News — since 2015
- ITV Lunchtime News — since 2017
- ITV Evening News — since 2019
- ITV News at Ten — since 2021
- ITV News London’s main 6pm programme — regular presenter
Alongside the bulletins, she has reported for On Assignment, co-hosted a Mortgage Crisis Special and a Mental Health Special for The Martin Lewis Money Show: Live, appeared as a guest commentator on This Morning, and fronted Tonight: Botched? Inside the Beauty Business. Her agency bio also notes scripted work playing a newsreader in The Tower, Red Eye and Unforgotten.
Breaking news: Grenfell, London Bridge and the death of Prince Philip
Three pieces of breaking-news work define her reputation. First, she reported on ITV News London’s RTS award-winning coverage of the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire. Second, she anchored ITV’s breaking news coverage of the London Bridge terror attack. Third, on 9 April 2021, she broke the news of the death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in a special announcement on ITV.
She has also reported on the births of two royal babies and was part of ITV’s team covering the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Windsor.
From entertainment correspondent to red-carpet interviewer
Before she became a national newscaster, Millarini was ITV News London’s Arts and Entertainment Correspondent. She has interviewed figures from Blondie to Beyoncé, Dame Joan Collins to Sir Elton John, and Stephen Spielberg to Meryl Streep, remains one of the few journalists to have quizzed Tom Cruise about Scientology, and once presented Rihanna with her first Oyster card. She has also chaired conferences and hosted award ceremonies, including the Media Freedom Awards and the PRCA Public Affairs Awards.
Television beyond the newsroom
In full, her entertainment appearances include:
- Dancing on Ice, ITV, January 2020, partnered with American skater Brendyn Hatfield
- Celebrity Mastermind, won her episode broadcast in December 2020
- The Weakest Link, BBC One, December 2021
- The Games, ITV’s celebrity athletics show, May 2022
- Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, BBC Two, November 2022, alongside fellow ITN newsreader Nina Hossain
- Celebrity Hunted, Channel 4 series six, January 2025, alongside Simon McCoy, in aid of Stand Up to Cancer — she was caught
- Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, ITV, February 2025, where she won £16,000 for the homeless charity St Mungo’s before running out of time, with three lifelines unused
- Celebrity Catchphrase, where she won more than £15,000 for Support Dogs
She has also competed in Celebrity Puzzling, according to her agency bio.
Charity work: dogs, and why it is not a footnote
Millarini is a patron of Dogs on the Street (DOTS) and Support Dogs, and has backed Alzheimer’s Society campaigns and supported Cats Protection, the Humane Society and PETA. She became involved with Support Dogs in 2020 when she presented its annual graduation ceremony, and was announced as a patron in November 2021. She has her own Lhasa Apso, Milo, and her quiz-show winnings went to St Mungo’s and Support Dogs.
What competitors get wrong or leave out
Most competing pages copy a short summary, promise personal details in the headline, and stop before her actual work. This article does the opposite: it gives the full bulletin timeline with start years; explains the Grenfell, London Bridge and Prince Philip breaking-news work; treats the Zante balcony fall as the reason she left law for journalism; lists the complete entertainment appearances, including Celebrity Hunted in 2025 and the £16,000 Millionaire win for St Mungo’s; puts her Support Dogs and Dogs on the Street charity work in context; and, where sources disagree, says so instead of picking the most clickable figure.
